About Tinsley House Therapies
I currently practice privately as a cognitive behavioural therapist. I am experienced in treating a range of difficulties including anxiety, panic attacks, depression, phobias, low self esteem, habits and addictions. As an ethical and conscientious therapist, I strongly believe in and see the benefits of tailoring evidence based treatment to meet individual needs. In order to do this often other approaches are required to contribute to a individualised psychological treatment, often encompassing a person centred approach, compassion focused and commitment and acceptance therapy.
I specialise in long term health conditions of a physical nature, in particular diabetes and neurological conditions are my areas of specialism such as epilepsy and migraines. I have worked for the past year with oncology services providing psychological therapy for patients with cancer diagnosis. I have varied experience of providing psychological therapy to individual suffering with long term conditions such as chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and medically unexplained symptoms.
Background:
I work as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, Hypnotherapost and CBT Clinical Supervisor. I am interested in areas of research in Neurology, particularly epilepsy and other neurological conditions and the impact on cognitive impairment and behavioural changes.
Since qualifying as a psychotherapist, my specialism has been in treating patients with long term conditions of a physical nature and oncology patients in conjunction with Nottingham University Hospital and Macmillan through an integrated pathway.
I have extensive knowledge and experience in the emotional impact of suffering with epilepsy and diabetes type 1 and how to adapt CBT interventions in treating such comorbidity. This knowledge has been helpful and transferable to other long term conditions in terms of emotional suffering and distress, difficulties with compliance and engagement with medical professionals, medication side effects, overall management of long term conditions and impact of family and interpersonal relationship dynamics. I am mindful of the impact a long term conditions or multiple conditions can have on an individuals quality of life and am passionate about working in together with individuals to improve quality of life through increased awareness helping individuals to regain control of their physical and mental health.
